Asia House has gathered views and analysis from leading figures in global trade for a new edition of ‘Asia House Insights.’

Government ministers, ambassadors, senior business leaders and officials all share their views and analysis on the current economic landscape in the publication, which takes its theme from the Asia Trade in the New Global Order conference, hosted by Asia House in Singapore on 22 November.

Writing in the foreword, Lord Green, Chairman of Asia House, said the edition “comes at a pertinent time.”

“Shifts in trade policy are having tangible effects on the geopolitical and economic landscape,” he said. “Earlier this year, the World Trade Organization downgraded its global growth forecast for 2019 in light of current trade tensions and their wider repercussions.

“China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which promises to create unprecedented connectivity throughout Asia and beyond, has come under increasing scrutiny, with some countries revisiting infrastructure decisions linked to the programme. And alongside all of this, new technologies continue to disrupt global trade and transform how business is conducted around the world.”

All of these issues are explored in the publication, which features contributions from Liam Fox MP, UK Secretary of State for International Trade; His Excellency Liu Xiaoming, Chinese Ambassador to the UK; and Dr Kai-Fu Lee, Chairman and CEO, Sinovation Ventures who is recognised globally as a leading authority on Artificial Intelligence.

“At Asia House, we drive political, economic and commercial engagement between Asia and Europe by creating a forum for leading figures in global trade to share their views, insights and analysis,” Lord Green added.

“This is reflected in Asia House Insights, which brings together a range of perspectives from those driving change in the global economy.”
