Asia House is delighted to work with the China-Britain Business Council for a conference on ‘New Frontiers in China Trade & Investment’.

This conference will examine the various effects of Chinese outbound trade and investment into the greater Asian region.

As China continues to shift from a manufacturing-based economy to one driven by consumer demands, Chinese companies are looking to establish a manufacturing presence in other parts of Asia to serve its expanding market and take advantage of competitive labour costs. We are inviting business leaders and government officials from the UK and Asia to analyse how China’s development is fuelling intra-Asian trade, developing regional infrastructure and increasing the use of RMB as a trade settlement currency.

Other topics we hope to explore include:

  • Market expanding Chinese FDI
  • Commodities extraction
  • Regional trade agreements, i.e., the China-ASEAN FTA, RCEP, and how companies can take advantage
  • RMB internationalisation
  • Changing patterns of value added supply chains

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Gordon Orr, Director, McKinsey & Company
  • Sir John Boyd KCMG, Chairman, Asia House
  • The Rt Hon the Lord Sassoon, Chairman, China-Britain Business Council
  • Stephen Phillips, CEO, China-Britain Business Council
  • Robert Court, Global Head of External Affairs, Rio Tinto Raffaello Pantucci, Senior Research Fellow, Royal United Services Institute
