Asia House presents a half-day panel discussion
using the exhibition
Through the Looking Glass: Korean Contemporary Art as its starting
point. Jiyoon Lee, the show’s curator, guest speakers (to
be confirmed)
and selected artists from Through the Looking Glass will take part
in
this panel discussion. Their focus will be on the debates and ideas
that
currently exist in the practice of Korean contemporary artists and
their
impact on the international art scene (which has become a real force
in recent years.)
Through the Looking Glass is the first major Korean contemporary
art exhibition in London, and as such will be an influence on new
generations of Korean artists and curators, working both in the
UK
and internationally. The relatively new relationship between
contemporary Korean art and the international art scene and the
exploration of its impact and importance, should provoke
a lively debate.
