Panel discussion
Beyond the Page: Contemporary Art from Pakistan
Moderated by Hammad Nasar
Saturday 4 November at Asia House 10.30am-1pm

Asia House presents a half-day panel discussion using the exhibition
Beyond the Page as a point of departure for exploring South Asian
miniature practice and its relation to today's artists, curators, arts
administrators, film-makers and others working in the arts world.

Curator Hammad Nasar will introduce the ideas behind the exhibition,
and share the questions its realisation has raised. Anna Sloan,
US-based writer, curator and art historian, will investigate the "space"
of the historical miniature in relation to contemporary artistic practice.
Nicole Wolf, Lecturer in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths' College, will be
in conversation with film-maker Puja Kaul around ideas of how the formal
structures of miniature painting offer a model for how to think of history
differently. Three short-films about or connected to the miniature will also
inform the panel discussion at the end, which will be joined by film-maker
Nurjahan Akhlaq.

Members’ Priority Booking Period to 1 November then open to the public.
