Over the past decades, adaptations of Shakespeare’s
plays
have become increasingly popular in Asia. The Korean adaptation
of Romeo and Juliet brought here by Asia House showing at the
Barbican Centre (Pit Theatre, 23 Nov-9 Dec) is one prominent example.
Coinciding with this production, Asia House presents a panel symposium
focusing on the topic of Shakespeare and Asian Theatre. There will
be
two sessions (Session 1: 10.30-11.45, Session 2: 12.00-1.00) during
which each panelist will talk on a given subject. This will be followed
by a general discussion and Q&A.
The Panelists:
• John Russell Brown, Visiting Professor of Theatre at Middlesex
University and Director of New Fortune Theatre.
