We actively encourage community groups to visit our rolling programme of exhibitions, where the activities on offer can include exhibition tours and talks, discussion groups, art appreciation sessions and creative art workshops. Community groups that have already been involved with Asia House include: Chinese Cultural Network Henna Asian Women's Group Asian Women's Resource Centre An Viet Vietnamese Mental Health Group Southwark Vietnamese and Chinese Community Soho Family Centre. Community groups have taken part in a wide variety of past projects. Asia House can also come to you. We can tailor activities to your needs in your own space. This might mean staging an exhibition on your premises, delivering a workshop or conducting art appreciation and discussion activities to tie in with your own particular areas of interest. Exhibition tours and talks, discussion groups, art appreciation sessions and creative art workshops Past projects Past projects with community groups have included practical workshops on… Mughal miniature painting Japanese origami Chinese brushwork and calligraphy Tibetan sand mandala butter sculpture as well as English language practice through art appreciation, workshops on women’s health lead by a Chinese medicine practitioner, and mixed-media art projects inspired by a range of Asian artists. As part of our ‘outreach’ programme, we are committed to bringing a wide range of lectures, exhibitions and other cultural activities to different areas around the UK. We would like to encourage universities, community associations and other organisations to explore how we may be able to work with them in the future. Most importantly, we aim to develop multi-cultural audiences and so are keen to encourage both British-origin and Asian-origin groups to develop their knowledge of diverse Asian cultures.
