Asia House is delighted to present HE Dr Maleeha Lodhi, High Commissioner
for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the UK, as the inaugural speaker for
our new major programme strand, Women’s Voices. This series is designed
to provide an open forum for women from all walks of life to share concerns,
exchange experiences and celebrate successes.

A role model for both men and women in Pakistan, in 1994 Dr Lodhi was
the only Pakistani named in Time magazine’s top 100 people in the world
(and the only from Pakistan) who would help to define the 21st century.
As a journalist, she became the first female editor of a national daily
newspaper in Asia, heading two of Pakistan’s leading English language
papers, The News International (which she helped found) and The Muslim.
Dr Lodhi was Pakistan’s longest serving Ambassador to the US, serving two
different presidents from 1994-1997 and 1999-2002. Join us as Dr Lodhi
shares her incredible personal journey as a woman who has been challenging
stereotypes about Asian women throughout her career, first as a journalist
and now as a diplomat.
