EXHIBITION OF 17TH CENTURY CHINESE PORCELAIN
FROM THE SHANGHAI MUSEUM AND BUTLER COLLECTIONS

GALLERY TALK BY MING WILSON
Wednesday 14 June 2006, 6.30-7.30pm at the V&A

First of its kind in the UK, this exhibition features 80 vases, incense burners,
brushpots and other objects for the scholar’s desk, drawn from the renowned
collections of the Shanghai Museum and the Butler Family. They illustrate
the brilliant creativity of the potters and ceramic decorators of Jindezhen,
the main porcelain production centre in southern China in the 17th century.
Ming Wilson is Senior Curator in the Asian Department at the Victoria and
Albert Museum, where she is responsible for the collections of Chinese
