Anusree Bonnerjee is a proponent of Bharata Natyam,
India’s oldest
classical dance form. A temple dance developed as a means of
communion with God, its stylised movements are a codification of
the
fifth (Natya) Veda which communicate divine wisdom to the common
man.
Rhythms of Colour is a new solo piece choreographed by Ansuree Bonnerjee
for which she has also composed songs based on the poetry of her
collaborator, Sudipta Dhruva. It explores the association of colours
with
emotions through an innovative blend of poetry, dance and music.
The
result is a multi-media experience, at once contemporary whilst
maintaining
its traditional flavour, which can be appreciated by Western and
Indian
audiences alike.
Anusree Bonnerjee began her training aged seven. The winner of the
prestigious Singar-Mani award at India’s annual Kal-Ke-Kalakar
festival
of classical music and dance, she has performed, instructed and
lectured internationally.
